Introduction
Communication
Industry has been the industry producing the highest output value in the
world and resulted in the great demand for talent after Computer
Industry. Therefore, our university founded the master program which was
the second one in Taiwan focusing on computer and communication related
researches and with the title 'Computer and Communication' in 2001.The
undergraduate program was built in the year of 2002. In order to meet
the demand for domestic high-tech manpower and to fulfill the goals of
constructing solid foundation and developing advanced technology for the
industry , the Department of Computer and Communication is dedicated to
cultivate the future high-level computer and communication professionals
with both comprehensive academic and practical trainings.
Academic Goal
The education of our programs will establish students' foundation of
theory for computer and communication and cultivate students'
capability of utilizing latest and most powerful computer aid--CAD to
analyze and design. We also help students accomplish their self-designed
and self-produced project before their graduation. Through English
training and collaboration with the industry, our students will have the
sense of internationalization and the qualification for the job market.
Curriculum Design
Our department has three major concentrations including the applications
of computer network, design and analysis of wireless communication
system, and wireless communication module and circuit design. Systems of
computer networking and Internet related courses are the compulsory
courses. Communication systems include communication theory, analog
modulation, and digital modulation theories. Wireless communication
modules and circuits include electromagnetic wave and RF IC Radio
Frequency Integrated Circuit design and other related courses.
Area of Research
Our graduate program focuses on Computer Networks, Wireless
Communication Systems, Microwave Radio Frequency Modules and Circuits
and Digital Signal Processing and Design. Computer Networks include
Network Protocols, Network Security, and Distributed Systems; Wireless
Communication Systems include such as Personal Wireless Communication
Systems, Bluetooth Communication Systems, and S pread Spectrum
Communications; Microwave RF Modules and Circuits include Microwave
Engineering, RF Circuits, RF MEMS, Design of Antenna, and RFIC; Digital
Signal Processing and Design includes IP Design, Voice Communication,
and Artificial Neural Control.
Research Emphasis
Our department emphasizes building solid theoretic foundation for
students, train them to utilize the latest and most powerful computer
aid software (CAD) to foster their abilities to analyze and design, and
ensuring that every graduate student must have submitted a certain
number of research papers before they graduate. Besides, English
training and collaboration with the industry and other institutes are
also our department's focuses to give graduate students international
sense and help them start their career or go for advanced study right
after their graduation.
